Jefferson County Naturalist Therese Cummiskey is inviting students to make gourd birdhouses Monday morning at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center.
Students in the Fairfield Community School District do not have classes Monday while teachers have a professional development day, so Cummiskey is inviting first- through sixth-graders to make birdhouses out of gourds.
?These birdhouses are great for wrens,? Cummiskey said.
Registered participants can come to the nature center anytime between 9-11 a.m. Monday. It will take about 30 minutes to complete a birdhouse.
Children in first- and second-grades must be accompanied and aided by an adult.
Supplies are limited so preregistration is required. Contact Cummiskey by calling 472-4421 or emailing therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com to reserve a spot. The fee is $1.
