Students participate in honor band

The South East Iowa Bandmasters Association (SEIBA) Honor Band festival was held at the new University of Iowa Voxman Music Building on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Five students from Washington CSD (two middle school and three high school) earned honors and performed at a concert in the Voxman Music Building?s main auditorium. The Middle School students performed under the direction of retired band director, David Newport and composer Robert Sheldon and also performed a commissioned piece of music by Sheldon specifically for this concert entitled Hawkeye Overture.
The high school students were under the baton of the director of bands at St. Ambrose Universtiy, Nicholas Enz.
Middle School Students selected to the honor band were Chloe McGuire (daughter of David and Debra McGuire), flute; and Evan Miller (son of Matt and Wendy Miller) trumpet.
High School students selected to the Honor Band were Addison McGuire (daughter of David and Debra McGuire), flute; Audrey Wubbena (daughter of Grant and Diana Wubbena), Alto Saxophone; and Erik Murphy (son of Bruce and Jane Murphy), trumpet.
