On the heels of last year?s downtown installation of 24 birdhouses, and the dozen mannequins displayed two years ago, the Fairfield Art Association announces the third annual summer art installation ?Chairs: A Front Row Seat.?
The exhibit will open for the Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk on June 3 and remain on display through August.
The art association is again inviting adult artists and fine crafts persons to participate in the project. Groups of creative friends or an organization may choose to work on one together.
Interested persons can contact Suzan Kessel at suzan1252@aol.com or 472-5374. Participation will be limited, and 15 garden nodes are already spoken for. A few chairs are available from the art association on a first-come, first-served basis. Guidelines are provided and include such things as height and weight restrictions and instructions of design for base attachments.
In addition, the chair art must be of sturdy construction, weatherproofed and in good community taste. Chairs must be completed and returned to the art association?s studio by the last week in May.
The chairs displayed will begin to be sold via silent auction at August?s art walk and conclude the night of September?s art walk, with proceeds going to the Fairfield Art Association.
Several new plans are included this year for the benefit of artists. A small cash amount of $25 will be provided by the art association when chairs are turned in to display, and artists will be listed on the art association?s new website with photos and links to their own sites.
