Summer is here!
I am very much aware that summer does not officially begin until June 21st. I am very much aware that summer does not officially begin until June 21st. But in the minds of all children and most parents, it begins at 1:11 pm on the last day of school (May 27) this year, so here we go. Many have already started planning another summer of family activities. It is always amazing to me how fast a summer schedule can fill up with activities. I know that this summer will be a wonderful opportunity for our family to spend time with each other in a couple of different ways. A wedding shower for a great niece, an anniversary party for my wife?s sister and brother-in-law (60 years together), a wedding and of course some time on the golf course, (I?ve been playing for 53 years and haven?t gotten any better). Well, you have heard enough about my boring life.
You?re probably wondering where I?m headed with this crazy article? I?m going to try and encourage you to make sure that you keep your relationship with God in the center of all your activities. When you get together with family, be sure and share how much God has blessed you this past year. When you gather together around a campfire and are eating smores, thank God for the fellowship you can experience. If you get a chance to ride bikes together, thank God for the good health that He has blessed you with!!!
If you have the opportunity to travel around this great country we live in, thank God for creating the beautiful scenery.
I pray every day that I don?t ever take for granted being blessed to be born in this country. We have the privilege to enjoy freedom in this GREAT country like nowhere else in the world.
So, as you plan and enjoy your summer, my prayer for you and your family is that you will remember the words of the apostle Paul in Colossians, ?And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.?
Have a great summer!!!!
