Survivor ceremonies set for relay
Jefferson County Relay for Life invites local cancer survivors to participate in survivor ceremonies during this year?s relay set for June 13-14 at Fairfield High School Trojan Stadium.
Check-in for survivors will be 3-5:45 p.m. June 13. All survivors will receive a free t-shirt at check-in.
Activities begin at 5 p.m. with a dinner provided by the Jefferson County Pork Producers.

Jefferson County Relay for Life invites local cancer survivors to participate in survivor ceremonies during this year?s relay set for June 13-14 at Fairfield High School Trojan Stadium.
Check-in for survivors will be 3-5:45 p.m. June 13. All survivors will receive a free t-shirt at check-in.
Activities begin at 5 p.m. with a dinner provided by the Jefferson County Pork Producers.
Ceremonies honoring survivors begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. Cathy Giberson, Relay for Life survivorship committee chair, will lead a prayer for survivors. Joan Hietpas, a 13-year breast cancer survivor, will be the featured speaker. Sgt. David Thomas of the Fairfield Police Department will read the names of all registered survivors. At 7 p.m., Fairfield physician and bagpiper Terry Cochran will lead the group in the first official lap of the relay. Survivors will be treated to cake after the survivor lap.
Survivors wishing to participate must submit their name, number of years as a cancer survivor, the type of cancer, their t-shirt size and the number of people planning to attend. The information can be sent to Giberson by e-mail at katmed01@yahoo.com by phone to the Jefferson County Health Center education office at 469-4232, leave a message if no answer; or mail information to Giberson at 1102 W. Adams St., Fairfield 52556.
Preregistration is due by May 18.
