4-H members in the Single Source Commercial Swine class are not only getting their pigs ready for the upcoming Washington County Fair but they are also busy sharing what they learned too. Thirteen 4-H'ers met with Washington County Pork Producers, Pat Gent and Tyler Gent, July 7 to share what they have learned through this swine class. Highlander 4-H Club member, Brayden Johnston, son of Steve and Tonia Johnston, is showing pigs for the first time this year. All pigs in this class came from the same swine producers and have been cared for by the 4-H'ers since April. The 4-H'ers will be scored on their interview, their show ring performance, and carcass scans. These 4-H?ers will exhibit their swine project live at the County Fair Swine Show on July 20 at 8 a.m. For more information on the Single Source Commercial Swine project or Washington County 4-H, contact the Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811.
