Symphony to present free chamber concerts
The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will host a set of free chamber concerts July 16-17, in Burlington and Fairfield, and a mini noon concert in Washington. The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will host a set of free chamber concerts July 16-17, in Burlington and Fairfield, and a mini noon concert in Washington. The Fairfield concert is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, July 16, at the Sondheim Center. The mini concert in Washington will begin at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, July 17, in the Washington Public Library and the Burlington event will be held 7:30 p.m. that evening at the newly restored First United Methodist Church at 421 Washington St. in Burlington.
Guest artist Margaret Marco will appear as soloist with eight musicians from the SEISO. Margaret, a native of Joliet, Ill., is professor of oboe at the University of Kansas.
The 12:15 Washington concert will feature Dr. Marco on oboe along with Margaret Runaas on keyboard.
