Take Away Hunger food packing in Fairfield
Sep. 21, 2021 12:18 pm
A group of five churches in the Fairfield area is having a Take Away Hunger food packing this Sunday and needs volunteers. This will be the group’s first packing in two years due to the pandemic.
The Fairfield Take Away Hunger group has packaged more than 400,000 meals the past few years. These are a black bean and rice casserole, shipped mostly as emergency food to areas of the world that have suffered a natural disaster.
Packing starts at 1:15 p.m. Sunday and will end at approximately 3:30 p.m., at the Word of Life Lutheran Church gym on Libertyville Road. The group’s goal is to pack 12,000 meals.
Plenty of volunteers will be needed, and those who come can work as little or as long as they want. The second shift will start at approximately 2:30 p.m.
COVID precautions at the event:
Temperature will be taken at the entry.
Mask are optional and will be available at the reception table.
Receptionist will sanitize hands at the entry.
No sign in registration.
No snacks at this event. Bottled water will be provided.
This event is sponsored by First Baptist Church, First Christian Church, Friends Church, Libertyville United Methodist Church and Word of Life Lutheran Church.
