The 4-H organization seeks to honor its seniors who have left their mark on the community. Today, 4-H honors Mason Juhl of Hedrick and Lona Farrier of Wayland.
Mason Juhl
Hometown: Hedrick
Parents/Family: Lori & Andy Long and Eric & Michelle Juhl
School: Pekin Community Schools
4-H Club: 76 Progressives
Projects: Breeding Beef and Market Beef
Other Activities: Wrestling, Football, Baseball, Track, and FFA
Future plans: Attend Ellsworth Community College.

Lona Farrier
Hometown: Wayland
Guardians: Andy and Kathy Farrier
School: WACO Community High School
4-H Club: Crooked Creek
Projects: Dairy Cattle, Meat Goats, Sheep, Poultry, Dog Obedience and Agility, Bucket Bottle Calf, Photography, and many other non-livestock projects.
4-H Activities: Crooked Creek 4-H Club Vice President, attended various workshops, Animal Science roundup, served as a Clover Kid mentor, and a volunteer at the Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.
Special 4-H memory/highlight: Winning the dodgeball tournament.
What I learned in 4-H: “I learned responsibility in 4-H, and how important record keeping is. Others should join 4-H because it is a great learning experience and a great way to meet new people.”
Other Activities: Volleyball, Track, Basketball, Soccer, and Farrier Boer Goats Farm
Future plans: Study nursing at Southeastern Community College (Burlington).
