The cost of Freedom
Today as I am writing this, I look ahead to Monday as we observe Memorial Day; I am reminded once again of the cost of freedom and all of those over the years that have given their time, their labor and the sacrifices that they have made that we might have the freedoms that we enjoy here today. Today as I am writing this, I look ahead to Monday as we observe Memorial Day; I am reminded once again of the cost of freedom and all of those over the years that have given their time, their labor and the sacrifices that they have made that we might have the freedoms that we enjoy here today. We are a nation that has truly been blessed by God. We truly have much to be thankful for.
But also as I write this, I look at the troubled times that we live in and what is happening in and to this nation that we live in. Soon we will have the opportunity to go to the polls and elect those who are to be in leadership for our nation, from the smallest of the elected offices to the highest. It will be, in a degree, the setting of the destiny of the USA over the next few years and how it will be there in the history of our country. I believe every eligible voter should make a special effort to be sure and vote. You might say, ?I don?t really know who to vote for or what to vote for.? I believe that God gives us the ability to make the right decisions when we look to Him and then do according to His wisdom and will.
The Bible says in Proverbs 2:6, ?For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.? There are two types of wisdom, the wisdom of God or the wisdom of this world. The wisdom of God is eternal and does not change because God is truth and truth does not change. The wisdom of this world comes from man and his ideas and thoughts about things and ways instead of what God says about them. If you look at history, truly all of history, you will see the difference between those who looked to God for wisdom and those according to man?s philosophies. Our nation was founded by people who looked to God for wisdom and guidance and the blessings that we have enjoyed because of that. This year we will be setting the course for our nation. These are trying times and we need the best leadership that we can have. Be sure and vote in this coming election and seek the wisdom of God as you do it. Thank you and remember that God loves us each and every one. He said, ?Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.?
