Pastor Maureen Howard representing the Immanuel Lutheran Church provided the weekly chapel service to Halcyon House residents on Sunday, March 17, 2019. The sermon title 'The Promises of God.” Scripture from Genesis 15 was shared with those in attendance.
Guest speaker, Don Kline, presented an interesting program about antique fishing lures, and a lot of the history behind them at our 'Something from the Attic” program on Tuesday, March 12. He brought in so many amazing fishing lures for our residents and guests to see. His knowledge on the subject seemed endless. We always look forward to having Don come in and share his amazing collections with us.
Classics Et Cetera with Richard Colby was held on Thursday, March 14. Richard comes to Halcyon House twice a week to give his program on classical music. Residents listened to musical pieces by famous Composers such as, Giochino Rossini, Friedrich von Flotow, and Ludwig van Beethoven, to name a few.
Arborwood residents were busy baking again this week. On Thursday March 14, delicious and beautiful caramel apple pie cookies were baked. The cookie technique was a lot of fun to do and many of residents loved coming out to the kitchen and enjoyed great fellowship and baking together.
There was a guest chef on Friday, March 15. Tom Woltering prepared a tuna casserole that was enjoyed for supper, by the residents in Wedgewood and Sagewood. Tom likes to pop in every now and then and show off his culinary talent, and we appreciate him doing it.
Memorable Hymns were sung in Rosewood and in Wedgewood on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 19, as Kaylin Brokaw came in to share her musical talents with a sing-along while playing the ukulele and the piano. On Tuesday, April 2 , at 6:30 p.m., Halcyon House will host retired border patrol officer, John Brinning, in the Timmins Multipurpose Room.
Brinning will be talking about his experience as a Border Patrol Officer along the United Sates/Mexico border. The program is free and open to the public.
