The miracle we need is in the seed

It seems spring is upon us and the season for planting. I grew up on a small farmette where we had a very large garden! I think we all have had experience with growing things in the ground. It truly is an amazing miracle that we can end up with more than we started with.

Jesus spoke a lot about seedtime and harvest time. The very first thing Jesus taught was the human heart is like soil in that what is planted in the heart produces a harvest.

In Matthew 13 Jesus taught that the Word of God is like seed. There is the sower, the seed and the harvest.

Of these the only one we have control over is the condition of the soil of our heart. Can you imagine someone throwing seed out on hard compacted ground and expecting the seed to grow? But we do the same thing when we are hard hearted and unforgiving. We go to church,pray,etc., thinking we will experience something from Gods Word but there is no room for God's Word.

How about a farmer who doesn't plant the seed deep enough to survive the heat? The same happens to many Christians who fail to study the Word..not enough depth..so the “ heat” from trials causes them to fall away.

Then there is the farmer who places great value on the seed because he knows the miracle is in the seed! He prepares the soil to insure it goes deep into the best soil! He watches over the seed to keep weeds out lest the weeds overtake the seed.

Imagine if we all became like the wise farmer, placed great value on the Word of God because we know the miracle we need is in the “seed” of the Word of God! We would prepare our hearts accordingly and watched over the process of Gods Promises being birthed in our hearts!

Join me in placing greater value on studying Gods Word and keeping “weeds”(sinful thoughts and actions) from stealing our miracle!
