FAIRFIELD — This December, the magic returns to Fairfield Arts & Convention Center as Ballet Des Moines brings its breathtaking production of The Nutcracker back to the Sondheim stage. A glittering tradition that has enchanted generations, this holiday masterpiece invites families, friends, and dreamers of all ages to step into a world where snowflakes dance, toys spring to life, and imagination knows no bounds.
With elegant choreography, lavish costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, The Nutcracker is the perfect backdrop for the wonder and warmth of the season. From Clara’s courageous journey and the epic battle with the Mouse King to the dazzling Land of Sweets, this timeless story unfolds in sweeping spectacle and heartfelt beauty.
“For many, The Nutcracker isn’t simply a performance, it’s a cherished ritual, a moment in the year when time slows, families gather, and magic feels real again,” says Lindsay Bauer, Executive Director of Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. “Whether you’re continuing a beloved family tradition or beginning a new one, this production offers a holiday experience that lingers long after the curtain falls. These are the days we’re going to love looking back on in years to come.”
The Nutcracker will be available for three performances this year: Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Performances are expected to sell quickly; previous Fairfield engagements sold out.
