We are entering into the Season of Giving 2015!!!! I am sure that you realize that once we celebrate Halloween. We enter into a season that you can?t find anywhere else during the calendar year. I read recently that we as Americans giving approximately 70 percent of our year giving to charities and non-profits organization during the final three months of the year. Now, I know that a large percent of the reason is probably for tax reasons? I am sure that there are other reasons, but there are a lot of groups who depend on these final three months to help in their upcoming year budgets.
So, the focus of my thoughts today is what are you going to do during these final months? I want to encourage you!!! I want you to think and pray!!! Ask God what He would have you to do?
Maybe you have a specific charity that you support throughout the year that could use a little extra help? Maybe it is family that you know that could use some extra $ for buying some presents for Christmas? Maybe it is a family that needs some help with food for their Holiday Meals?
If you personally or possibly some organization that you are involved with would like to have some more information on needs in our community of Washington. Do not hesitate to contact a local church or a Pastor to find some way that you can help.
Lastly, I want to make you aware of a ministry very much involved in Washington County, THE SAVATION ARMY. Starting on Thanksgiving weekend and going though until Christmas. There will Red Kettles set up at a number of stores. Walmart, Hyvee, Fareway, and also some businesses will have small kettles set up in the stores. Please give generously!!!! If you would to be a volunteer at one of these sites contact one of the local churches, they have a signup sheet for 1 hour slots for you to serve.
If you would like any information about any of the things talked about in this article please feel free to contact me: Pastor Darryl Carr , First Baptist Church Washington Iowa 319-461-5895. Thank You in advance for your prayers and Service. ?TO GOD BE THE GLORY?
