This is one of my favorite times of the year. The transition from winter to spring holds such beauty and mystery. We see flowers that have laid dormant for several months break through the ground with green shoots of life and splashes of color. The robins begin playing in our yards and trees. There is a sound of new life in the air. The thumbprint of winter is still present but we look past the decay with an expectation of what will be. How many of us view our lives through the same lens as we do the seasons? For many the winter season of our life often brings sorrow and pain, i.e., decay. We fail to look at the new things that spring up in our lives. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us that there is a time and a season for everything. It also tells us that although there is a time and season for everything, it is the admiration of the Lord and following him that brings true fulfillment and contentment.
Isaiah 43:19 says ?Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.? This verse is so applicable to us today. God is wanting to birth something in your life that is new. When was the last time you experienced something new with the Lord? For many reading this, just the thought of God doing something new in your life brings about excitement. For others, this thought brings about thoughts of insignificance and unworthiness. Those who are experiencing the thoughts of insignificance and unworthiness, take heart. It is through Jesus Christ?s death and resurrection that we are made worthy and if God sent his son to die for you and for all mankind, your significance and worth must be more than you perceive.
The excitement is there. Can you perceive it? Your soul is desiring more from God. Will you allow God to do that new thing in you? It is His desire to have a close intimate relationship with His creation. To those who do not have that intimacy with God, there is no better time to achieve it. Begin to seek Him. You are not seeking an ideal or enlightenment but rather a life-giving relationship with the creator of all things. and that relationship is made through us accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of our life. A new thing is waiting for you. A new thing has been prepared for you and God is wanting to let it spring forth. Will you look past the decay of past failures and attempts? Look forward and look up. Spring is here and so is the Savior calling out to you.
