Three arrests made during traffic checkpoint
Twenty-two citations were issued and three arrests made during a Sept. 28 traffic safety checkpoint, headed by the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
Arrested were Anthony James Elliott, 36, Mt. Pleasant, driving while barred; Andrew Jacob Wood, 28, Fayetteville, Ga., possession of marijuana, marijuana oil and drug paraphernalia; and Michael Lee Taylor Jr., 30, Burlington, driving while barred.

Twenty-two citations were issued and three arrests made during a Sept. 28 traffic safety checkpoint, headed by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.
Arrested were Anthony James Elliott, 36, Mt. Pleasant, driving while barred; Andrew Jacob Wood, 28, Fayetteville, Ga., possession of marijuana, marijuana oil and drug paraphernalia; and Michael Lee Taylor Jr., 30, Burlington, driving while barred.
The checkpoint was conducted from 3-6 p.m. on Grand Avenue from Exit 45 to Winfield Ave. During the three hours, law enforcement officers stopped 501 motor vehicles and 95 commercial vehicles. Officers were checking driver?s license, registration, proof of insurance and safety equipment.
In addition to the citations and arrests. officers also issued 171 warnings and conducted 15 K-9 searches.
The sheriff?s office was assisted in the checkpoint by the Henry County Sheriff?s Reserves, Iowa Governor?s Traffic Safety Bureau; New London Police Department, Lee County Sheriff?s Office, Louisa County Sheriff?s Office, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol and Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
K-9 units assisting were from the Henry County Sheriff?s Office, Lee County Sheriff?s Office and Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
A total of 39 officers, eight agencies and three K9s participated in the checkpoint.
