Tollenaeres celebrating 40th wedding anniversary
Pete and Kathy Tollenaere of Fairfield will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday.

Pete and Kathy Tollenaere of Fairfield will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday.
Peter Tollenaere and Kathleen Taylor were married April 1, 1972, at the United Methodist Church in Manly.
Pete Tollenaere was born and raised in Oak Park, Ill. He graduated from Oak Park/River Forest High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University in Ames. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring 1.5 years ago.
Kathy Tollenaere was raised on a farm near Mason City. She graduated from North Central High School in Manly. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and an elementary education degree from Buena Vista University. She taught in the Fairfield Community School District for 16 years before retiring.
The couple has two children: Cheryl Dyer and husband Kyle of Omaha, Neb.; and Keith Tollenaere and wife Kim of Mount Pleasant, Mich. They also have six grandchildren.
The Tollenaeres have lived in Fairfield for nearly 33 years. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
