Tollenaeres will celebrate 50 years of matrimony

Peter Tollenaere and Kathleen Taylor were married on April 1, 1972 at the United Methodist Church in Manly, Iowa.
Pete was born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, and graduated from Oak Park/River Forest High School and attended college at Iowa State University, receiving a bachelors of science in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 38 years and now is retired.
Kathy was raised in a small town near Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from North Central High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa, receiving a BA in fine art. Later, she earned a BA in elementary education from Buena Vista. She taught in the Fairfield Community School District for 16 years before retiring.
The couple has two children: Cheryl Dyer (husband Kyle Dyer) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Keith Tollenaere (wife Kim Tollenaere) of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. They have six grandchildren.
The Tollenaeres have lived in Fairfield for 43 years.
