Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is sponsoring Powerful Tools for Caregivers in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., starting on Feb. 2.
Over 43.5 million family caregivers in America provide a vast array of emotional, financial, nursing, social, homemaking and other services on a daily or an intermittent basis.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide tools needed to take care of yourself. If you take good care of yourself, you will be better prepared to take good care of your loved one.
As a participant, students will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources.
This program has been tested and evaluated through a grant from the U.S. Administration on Aging.
Classes consist of six, two-hour sessions held once a week. Janet Smith, Family Life Specialist, and Lori Mathews-Sammons, Trained PTC facilitator, will conduct each class. Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming help students take the ?tools? and put them into action for your life.
Sessions are scheduled every Tuesday for six weeks and begin on Feb. 2. Classes will be held at ISU Extension-Henry County from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The program is free.
For more information or to register, contact Janet Smith at jansmith@iastate.edu, or call 319-385-8126 to register.
