Transitioning Production Agriculture workshop Sept. 5 in Fairfield

Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach is presenting a Next Generation informative workshop on transitioning production agriculture Monday, Aug. 26, at the Jefferson County ISU Extension office in Fairfield.

Registration will be at 6 p.m., with the program from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The program is for farmers, landowners and ag industry professionals.

Topics will include: consolidation in production agriculture and its affect on rural communities; farm transition strategies for retiring farmers, landowners and producers; farm leasing in 2020 for maximizing income and long-term relationships; and connecting retiring farmers and landowners to the next generation of producers.

Presenters will be Steve Bohr, farmer and farm transition specialist; Glen Moeller, retired farmer and Iowa landowner; and Mike Downey, land, lease and farm succession consultant.
