Treasurer’s Office announces new policy for Bill of Sale

The Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office announced a new policy will take effect on Jan. 1 regarding documents required to transfer ownership of vehicles.
From that day forward, a Bill of Sale will be required to transfer ownership of all vehicles and trailers.
The Bill of Sale needs to include:
- Purchase Date
- Purchase Price
- Year, Make and VIN of vehicle/trailer
- Seller(s) signature(s)*
- Buyer(s) signature(s)*
*Signatures do not need to be notarized.
