Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra presents the San Francisco-based Aleron Piano Trio as 2012 Artists in Residence.
The trio, including violinist Solenn Séguillon, pianist Teresa Yu and cellist Anne Suda, will perform for more than 15 school, community and service groups throughout southeast Iowa from Monday through March 23. SEISO has sponsored residencies by outstanding performing artists since 1982, climaxing in solo concert performances with the orchestra in the three major sponsoring communities: Burlington, Ottumwa and Mount Pleasant. This year, Aleron Trio will perform Beethoven?s Concerto for Piano, Violin and Cello in C Major. Performances will be 7:30 p.m. March 24 at Burlington Memorial Auditorium; 3 p.m. March 25 at Indian Hills Community College St. John Auditorium in Ottumwa and again at 7:30 p.m. in the Iowa Wesleyan College Chapel Auditorium in Mount Pleasant.
The trio will perform three full recitals during its residency in southeast Iowa: 4 p.m., Monday, March 19 at Pennsylvania Place in Ottumwa; 12:15 p.m. March 22 at the Washington Public Library in Washington, Iowa, and again at 7:30 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington. All recitals are open to the public and are offered free of charge.
Praised for their ?dexterity and breathtaking perfection? by French critics during their last summer tour, Aleron Trio draws audiences with their unique energy and commitment to performing. An ensemble of three women from France, the United States and Taiwan, the San Francisco-based Aleron Trio?s mission is to present chamber music to as broad a range of audiences as possible, whether performing in cathedrals, museum galleries, intimate chapels or the traditional concert hall. Listeners can expect to hear a variety of styles from the classical repertoire to a fusion of genres including American jazz and Irish idioms.
Aleron Trio is a fiscally sponsored affiliate of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music. For more information, visit www.alerontrio.com or www.facebook.com/alerontrio.
The Southeast Iowa Symphony Artist in Residence Program has been nationally recognized by the League of American Orchestras and receives support from the Iowa Arts Council, Wapello County Foundation, Enhance Henry County Community Foundation, John Deere Foundation and Pennsylvania Place in Ottumwa. Dozens of volunteers have worked together to help make the 2012 Artist in Residence program a success.
Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra?s conductor, Robert McConnell said he and the board of directors feel the Artist in Residence Program is one of the best ways to expose students to excellence in music and to encourage participation in the arts.
?It is an important role for our regional orchestra to fulfill,? said McConnell.
