A fundraising campaign for ?After Prom Party 2013? is under way and will ?kickoff? in tandem with the 2012-2013 Trojan football season. Sponsored and supported by the After Prom Committee that includes student parents and members of the Fairfield community, the effort is inspired by the success of the After Prom Party at Fairfield High School last spring.
Beginning Thursday at ?Meet the Trojans? night at the FHS Trojan Stadium, raffle tickets will be sold for the ?Best Seats in the House!? Tickets are selling at $5 each or $20 for 5 tickets. The winning ticket will get reserved stadium seats for four on the 50 yard line next to the press box at the first home football game Sept. 7. Snacks and meals for four will also be donated by the Trojan Booster Club and Yummy?s will donate cookies for four for each game as well.
Raffle tickets will be sold at each home game, Yummy?s and ERA Fairfield Real Estate, with the winner announced at halftime to get the ?best seats? at the next home game. The ticketholder must be present to win.
The goal is to raise $4,000 to help pay for activities as well as prizes given away throughout the evening.
The After Prom Party, held in the high school commons, library and gym, provides a fun and safe location for prom goers to enjoy the wee hours of prom night. Funds will go toward activities including casino games, volleyball, pingpong, twister, board video games, inflatable jousting and free snacks.
Senior Spencer Peterman attended the after prom event last spring and said ?the volleyball was the best.?
?It was a blast! Can?t wait for next year?s,? said Dillon Fry.
Junior Alex Shier said ?I had a lot of fun. The bouncy house with jousting was ?rad? and I loved that there was a lot of food there. It was fun to keep the party going with all of my friends together.?
The after Prom Party is open to all FHS juniors and seniors and their guests at no cost to them.
Current season home games are: Aug. 31 with Davis County; Sept. 7 with Washington; Sept. 21, the homecoming game with Williamsburg; Oct. 5 with Fort Madison; and Oct. 19 with Chariton.
More fundraising raffles are planned in the coming months, including a chance to win a cake from Yummy?s Gourmet Cakes.
Anyone who would like to contribute to the After Prom party can send donations to Joanne Hietpas, treasurer, 601 Hillside Drive, Fairfield 52556.
