Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society members met on Monday, July 26, at the Olds United Church of Christ.
This year's camp girls, Savannah Harris and Layla Wolfe, gave reports on their camping experiences at Crooked Creek Christian Camp. Both girls said they had a great time and met many new friends.
Their favorite activity was the outdoor "slip and slide." The weather cooperated, and they were able to sleep under the stars on tarps in their sleeping bags. They enjoyed swimming, canoeing and campfires, just to name a few things.
Following their report ice cream and cookies were served.
After the camp report, President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened with the group singing the "Sword of Gold." Eight members answered roll call with "What is your favorite thing at the fair?"
MINUTES: President Shelman read the June 13 minutes, and they were approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE: A thank-you note was read from the family of Marilyn Boal for the T.T.T. memorial donation and for displaying the T.T.T. memorial wreath at the funeral service.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Missy Fear gave her report, and it will be filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
CAMP: Everyone was happy to hear the two girls had a good time at camp and would gladly go again. Transportation and pick up by the parents went well. The girls mentioned the need for full size pillows. Upon further discussion it was decided things went well and even though it was a nice camp, the girls weren't with other T.T.T. campers, as in the past.
CHARITY: A motion was made, seconded and carried to send gift cards to this year's campers for school supplies.
CAMP GIRLS' GIFTS: Pat Miller reported sending two birthday cards with gift cards this month.
WAYS and MEANS: It was noted a check had been received from Unc & Neph's for the donation for tip night. Karolyn Crawford contacted both Mt. Pleasant and Washington Pizza Ranch about clearing tables for tips. Mt. Pleasant isn't scheduling yet, but the group is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 20, at Washington.
BILLS FOR PAYMENT: Bills were presented for birthday cards, gift cards and two books of stamps. A motion was made, seconded and carried to pay these.
FOUNDER'S DAY CEREMONY: The Founder's Day candlelight ceremony was performed by the group.
ADJOURNMENT: President Shelman thanked those who attended, and Nancy McGohan for providing treats for the girls. There will not be a meeting in August and the next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. Roll call will be "What is the weirdest food you've eaten."
The meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed.
Parish Council
The Parish Council met after church on Sunday, July 25 with four members present to discuss three upcoming items — the Fall Rummage Sale, the Harvest Supper and Sale and the November Soup Supper.
It was voted to unanimously have these. The dates for the Fall Rummage Sale are Wednesday, Sept. 1, to Friday, Sept. 3, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 4, 8 a.m.-noon. More information to follow next week on this.
The dates for the Harvest Sale and Supper and the Soup Supper will be determined by committees.
