Turner attending Auxiliary Girls State program next week
Alexis Turner, daughter of Eric and Jennifer Turner, was chosen by the Leon Beatty Unit 29 of the American Legion to attend the annual Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program being held June 12 to 17 at Drake University in Des Moines.

Alexis Turner, daughter of Eric and Jennifer Turner, was chosen by the Leon Beatty Unit 29 of the American Legion to attend the annual Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program being held June 12 to 17 at Drake University in Des Moines.
Turner has completed her junior year and is one of 300 girls attending this program. She will learn through hands-on experience about the political system involved in the government of Iowa.
Throughout the week, the girls will campaign for office, create party platforms, hold city, county and state elections in their own cities.
Turner attends Washington High School (WHS) and is involved in the Student Congress, National Honor Society, Youth Salute, Dance Marathon, SADD, Peer Helpers, Business Professionals of America, St. James Youth Group, WHS dance team, and plays volleyball.
