Join Jefferson County Farm Bureau and the Fairfield Public Library for two engaging story time events in July! Both events will take place at the Fairfield Public Library, located at 104 W Adams Ave, Fairfield, IA 52556, in the Meeting Room. Children aged three and older are welcome to attend for free!
The first event, Dairy Day, will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 10 a.m. During this session, children will discover fascinating facts about dairy cows! Sara Martindale, the Fairfield librarian, will read a story centered around dairy cows. Following the story, Hailey Shultz, the Outreach Coordinator for Jefferson County Farm Bureau, will share facts about these animals and offer children the chance to milk a faux dairy cow. To wrap up the exciting day, each child will make their very own butter to take home. Don’t miss this hourlong activity on July 24!
The final event is set for Thursday, July 31 at 10 a.m., titled Eyes on Compost! In this session, children will learn about waste in the environment and discover how they can make a positive impact. Sara Martindale will read a story that highlights composting and environmental waste. Hailey Shultz will discuss composting techniques and their benefits. Lastly, each participant will create their own compost in a bottle to take home!
