Two reports of vehicle collisions with wildlife in Henry County

On July 14, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle collision involving wildlife. The collision occurred in the 2600-grid of Salem Road, outside of Geode State Park. Upon investigation, it was determined that Christina Carroll, 49 of Donnellson, was traveling east bound when a deer ran into the roadway. Carroll’s 2014 Ford Expedition and the deer collided causing disabling damage. The estimated cost to repair the damage was $6500. No injuries were reported.
On July 15, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff's Office was notified of a single vehicle collision involving wildlife. The collision took place near mile marker 240 of Highway 34. An investigation determined that Greg Gibson, 63 of Burlington, was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 west bound on Highway 34 when a deer ran into the roadway. The deer and vehicle collided. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage but was driven from the scene. The cost of repairing the vehicle was estimated at $7000. No Injuries were reported.
