To the editor:
In reference to gun violence in America’s schools: First of all, it starts at home. Talk to your child about his or her day. You might be surprised about their fears in school.
Give your child encouragement to report to someone in school they trust, a teacher, coach, principal, etc. Maybe your pastor. I promise you will not be a snitch or nark. You will be saving lives.
These innocent young children getting killed and being killed by a young classmate has broken my heart! Enough is enough. Please, Fairfield, talk to your kids and stand up on this issue because the kids today are our leaders of tomorrow.
God bless the Fairfield school system, the school kids, and their parents. Be kind to each other and stay safe.
Rod H. Smith, Fairfield, and former chief of police and deputy sheriff
