United Church Women meet
CRAWFORDSVILLE NEWS

The United Church Women met Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with eight ladies present.
Meditations were given by Pauline Richardson reading "Mother, Another Word for Love" and "Blessed Jesus" from the book Jesus Listens by Sarah Young, followed by prayer.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read her report and it was approved as read. Debbie gave the Treasurer's report and it will be filed for audit. The Regular Offering was taken.

Thank you notes were read.
Committee Reports:
Local Activities:: Inventory of paper products, coffee, etc. needs attention.
Doras: Donna reported they met on Monday 8 and work on quilts continues as usual.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: One Anniversary gift had been purchased.
Study & Devotions/ Mission Outreach: Margaret presented a Mission Statement on Persecuted Christian Refugees in Turkey.
Old Business: The Spring Rummage Sale was discussed and the group spoke of possibly closing early on the Saturday in the Spring.
New Business: There was talk of disbursing funds to Missions Mid-year, in place of November.

Following a motion to adjourn, Debbie thanked Margaret for being hostess and the Closing Creed was read together. Her closing thought was "Nothing is so strong as gentleness. Nothing is so gentle as real strength."
Recent visitors in the home of David and Zola Cerka were David's brother and wife, Frank and Toni Cerka of Aubrey, TX and his niece and husband, Dr.s Joe and Kaci Vela from Iowa City. Also, Al and Charlene Rozinek of West Branch.
THANK YOU COMMUNITY CLUB
A very belated "Thank You" to members of the Crawfordsville Community Club for their May "Basket" remembrances. Many were delivered to community members and were much appreciated. What a thoughtful thing to do!!
GRADUATION
Floyd and Pauline Richardson accompanied their daughter, Regina Arthur of Iowa City to Ames on Saturday, where they attended the graduation of their granddaughter and niece, Logan Pauline TeKolste from Iowa State who graduated with a BA Degree in Music Education. She will be teaching band, grades 5-12 at Earlham, IA next year. Logan is the daughter of Rick and Teresa TeKolste of Altoona.
The Richardson's and Regina spent the night in Altoona and returned to their homes on Sunday.
