United Church Women meet in Crawfordsville

The United Church Women met Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville with eight ladies present.
The meeting opened with meditations by Cathy Williams with "Making Decisions" and "Jesus, Our Coach." President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
The minutes of the January 10, 2023 meeting were read by Secretary Billie Jo and they were approved as read. The treasurer's was given and will be filed for audit. The regular offering was taken.
Correspondence: Three thank you notes were passed around.
Committee Reports:
Local Activities: It was reported the ice cube maker in one refrigerator needs to be checked on.
Dorcas: Donna reported on their meeting on Monday and four quilts had been given to area residents.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: Several cards had been sent.
Old Business: Margaret is checking on some expenditures concerning the Thanksgiving dinner in the future.
New Business: Spring Rummage Sale. Set-up will be Tuesday, April 25 at 9 a.m. The sale will run Thursday, April 27, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, April 28, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.; and Saturday, April 29, 8 a.m.-noon.
Upcoming Events: Next meeting: May 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. Meditation: Pauline; Hostess: Margaret.
Dorcas: March 27, April 10 and May 8.
Work Committees: March: Donna; April: Debbie; Spring Rummage Sale: Cathy, Billie Jo and Carol.
Following a motion to adjourn, Debbie thanked Donna for being hostess. The Closing Creed was read together.
Debbie shared closing thoughts: "Forgiveness is giving love when there is no reason" and also cited Matthew 5:7.
CRAWFORDSVILLE WEDNESDAY STUDY CLUB
Seven members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the Hy-Vee deli in Washington at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Attending were Ruth Erwin, Rachel Koehler, Debbie Lowe, Clarissa Malmberg, Joyce Roth, Janice Twinam and Cathy Williams.
Hostess Rachel decorated the table with a pretty carnation/shamrock centerpiece. She served crackers and two delicious cheese dips, as well as some candies.
Members shared information about books they are currently reading or have recently read.
For entertainment, Rachel shared the "True History Behind St. Patrick's Day" and the ten most romantic Irish poems which everyone took turns reading aloud.
The next meeting will be hosted by Ruth Erwin on April 19, 2023. The time and place to be announced.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Crawfordsville Township Benefited Fire District will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. They will be serving Pancakes, Sausage Patties, Scrambled Eggs, Hashbrowns and Sausage Gravy. This is all for a Free-Will Offering. Dine-in or carry-out.
Following the pancake breakfast, the Crawfordsville Community Club will sponsor an East Egg Hunt at 9:30 a.m. at the Ball Field, behind the Elementary school building.
