United Church Women meet in Crawfordsville

The United Church Women met in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 with ten ladies present.
Billie Jo Rose shared readings from Daily Guideposts citing how even small services pleases the Lord from Jeremiah 30:19 and from the book "Moments of Peace in the Presence of God with a reading on "Hope and Humility"
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the May 9, 2023 meeting and they were approved as read.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave her report and it will be filed for audit. She also reported a donation she'd received for helping with the Crawfordsville Alumni Reunion.
Correspondence: A letter was passed from Tunnels to Towers about their organization.
Committee Reports:
Local Activities: Question as to if any kitchen supplies were needed.
Dorcas : The ladies met on Monday, July 7 and worked on quilts. It was reported some lap robes had been taken to those previously hospitalized and also a baby quilt had been delivered.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: Several cards had been sent to those ill, sympathy and for new babies.

Old Business: None
New Business: Nominating Committee will be contacting people about offices for next year and election of officers will be held at the September meeting. It was decided to dispense money now to the first five on our Missions list. Also, dates for the fall Rummage Sale were announced. Set-up will be Monday, August 28 at 9 a.m. Sale dates are: Wednesday, August 30 from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.; Thursday, August 31 ,8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, September 1 , 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, September 2, 8 a.m. to noon. Any and all are asked to help!!

Next Meeting: September 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Meditation: Pat Miller; Hostess: Marlene Pelster. Election of Officers.
Dorcas: July 24, August 14 and September 11.
Work Committees: July: Rachel Koehler; Rummage Sale: Cathy, Billie Jo and anyone else that would like to help. August: Pat Miller and September: Margaret Patterson. Everyone was reminded to keep contributing to their Blessing Boxes and they will be turned in in November.
Adjournment: Following a motion to adjourn the President thanked Pauline for hostessing. The Closing Creed was read in unison.
Debbie closing thoughts: "Everyone has patience. Successful people learn to use it." She also cited James 1:4. "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
RUMMAGE SALE
The United Church Women will once again hold their Fall Rummage Sale. It will take place: August 30, August 31, Friday, and September 1 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, September 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. We will be setting up Monday, August 28 at 9 a.m.
If you would like to bring items ahead of time you may leave them in the northwest room starting Tuesday, August 15. The door will be marked.
All items must be clean and in working order. Computers, T.V.'s, etc. will NOT be accepted as the church has no way of disposing of them. All small appliances must be in working order.
