United Church Women meet in Crawfordsville

The United Church Women met Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville with nine ladies present.
Margaret Patterson gave a Thanksgiving meditation from Psalms 100. The title was "Being thankful despite trials". Give God Praise.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison. The minutes of the Sept. 10, 2024 meeting were read by Secretary Billie Jo Rose and they were accepted as amended.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave the treasurer's report and it will be filed to audit. The regular offering was taken and Blessing Boxes were turned in. Different Christmas gifts were discussed.
Committee Reports:
Local Activities: A funeral luncheon was served on November 3.
Dorcas: Donna reported two quilts have been donated to the Harvest Auction.
She reported two smaller tables had been purchased for the sewing room. It was also approved to donate a quilt to the Lions upcoming Christmas drawing.One quilt had also been given to a former member, who had recently had surgery, as well.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: The usual cards had been sent.
Study & Devotions/ Mission Outreach: Nothing.
Old Business: There was an update on the freezer recently donated.
Electrical work has been done and the freezer installed. It was reported there was a need for November and December hostesses for 2025.
New Business: Add to monthly work committee person's responsibilities: see that the linens are kept laundered from the kitchen. The ladies will be responsible for products kept in the ladies restroom.
The next item was to access the treasury and determine how much will be given to missions and also decide where to send the money from the Blessing Boxes.
Upcoming Events: Next Meeting: December 10, Christmas luncheon.
Hostess: Rachel Koehler and Meditation: Cathy Williams. The time and place is yet to be determined.
Dorcas: November 25 and December 9. Work Committees: November: Rachel; December and January: Cathy Williams.
Following a motion to adjourn Debbie thanked Rachel for hostessing and the Closing Creed was read together.
Debbie closed with the following thought: "You cannot do a kindness too soon, because you never know how soon it will be too late!" but encourage one another day after day as long as it is still called "Today."
Church News:
They are needing volunteers for Bell Ringers for December 1 from 9-5 at Walmart in Washington. Please consider signing up on the sheet in the Narthex.
Food Pantry Trivia: January through October of this year our local food pantry has served 982 families. This number consists of 3136 individuals from the WACO community. On November 21, one hundred Thanksgiving food boxes will be distributed during our drive-thru pick-up.
HARVEST SUPPER and AUCTION
The Harvest Supper and auction was very well attended and many items were offered from grain to handmade crafts and egg rolls are always the highlight of the evening, bringing in many dollars. The Church would like to thank everyone who came and all those who took part in bidding,
