Marjorie Fullerton celebrated her 100th birthday over the weekend surrounded by family and friends. Marjorie?s children, Jocelyn and Butch Morgan, Bebe and Richard McFarland, and Ron Fullerton hosted an open house Saturday afternoon in honor of the milestone event. Marjorie Fullerton celebrated her 100th birthday over the weekend surrounded by family and friends. Marjorie?s children, Jocelyn and Butch Morgan, Bebe and Richard McFarland, and Ron Fullerton hosted an open house Saturday afternoon in honor of the milestone event. They all joined Marjorie for supper in the evening and overnight guests were still talking about the wonderful celebration over breakfast on Sunday morning.
Marion Cuddeback?s family hosted an open house on Sunday in recognition of her 90th birthday. Marion?s children Jim and Jane Cuddeback, Larry and Kathy Cuddeback and Janet Sharpe were all present for the party. Marion?s daughter, Janet arrived earlier in the week from Matlock, Wash., to spend time with her mother.
Carol Flickinger attended the wedding of her granddaughter, Heidi Flickinger in Estes Park, Colo. over the weekend. Carol?s son, Scott Flickinger, drove her to Colorado where they were joined by family members, Mark Flickinger, father of the bride, and Jana and Tom Dawson. Carol reports that the three-day event was much fun and the wedding ceremony overlooking the water was beautiful.
A birthday party was held in the Health Center on Wednesday for those celebrating May birthdays. United Presbyterian Church Women?s Circle 5 provided cake and treats to be enjoyed by all. Residents with birthdays this month include George Grove, Marion Cuddeback, Doris Stout, Dorothy See, Betty Stephens and Mary Ferre.
Community gardens have been planted and the corn is tall enough to be rowed thanks to the labor of Tom Tanner, Larry Bartlett, Jim Reid, Brad Goff, Kathy Knutson and Richard Henningfield. They were seen tilling the soil again this week and hope to plant another crop in the next few days. In addition to the community corn plot, green-thumb residents have individual garden plots to make for a large gardening area inside the Cottrell Walking Path.
George and Marilyn Max made an overnight visit to the UPH this week. While here they ate breakfast in the Main Dining Room which allowed them to see many familiar faces. They visited the homes of Liz Taylor, Carl and Helen Dallmeyer, Julia Gamon and Wayne and Nadene Brown. Marilyn is the daughter of former residents, John and Ruth Morris. Marilyn and George Max return each year to visit with friends and renew acquaintances.
Dave Henderson returned from a one-week fishing trip to the hills of Tennessee. Dave spent time with friends at the Fairfield Glades Resort and fished near there and also at Dale Hallow. Dave says the fishing wasn?t anything to brag about, but he did catch fish, and he ate very well while there. He tried out the new Sticky Fingers Barbeque and enjoyed award-winning Boston Cream Pie (in Tennessee).
Friends from the Washington High School class of 1960 met for lunch in the Main Dining Room on Wednesday hosted by classmate Jim Bennett. Approximately 37 guests attended to enjoy a baked potato bar lunch and a fun time reminiscing. Members of this class gather every other month for mini reunions.
