The Rev. Kitch Shatzer organized a Seder meal on Thursday evening of Holy Week with approximately 20 residents in attendance. The service began with portions of the Jewish Passover rituals and explanations of the various symbolic foods used at the meal. They then shared a simple meal together before moving on to a celebration of the Lord?s Supper much as Jesus did with His disciples in the Upper Room. Many who attended commented this was their first experience with such a service and found much meaning in participating.
The Easter Bunny hopped in to the Health Center on Good Friday to visit children and residents before making his Easter rounds. Day care children searched for colored eggs, sang songs and enjoyed treats with the Easter Bunny before passing out homemade Easter cards to residents.
Many residents, family and friends attended the Easter Buffet on Sunday in the Main Dining Room. The dietary staff prepared seasonal spring salads and roasted vegetables along with glazed ham and roast beef. Berry mousse, lemon cake and chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow frosting provided a sweet finish.
Dorothy Miller was a guest of her son, Don, and his family in Minneapolis over the Easter weekend.

Suzanne?s husband, Rich joined them over the weekend and Dorothy?s stepdaughter, Karen McGuire and her friend, Mark from Ohio joined them later.
Volunteers from Syngenta Seeds worked hard on Monday afternoon to clean up winter?s debris around the United Presbyterian Home. They raked leaves, pruned bushes and bagged trash from the many flower beds around the UPH Campus. Our thanks to Katie Engel, Valerea Herrera, Tracy Kleese, Mary Ann Longbine, Alyssa Rich, Tom Schroeder and Randy Wehr for their service work and dedication to our community.
Week of the Young Child will be celebrated April 13-17, at the United Presbyterian Home. UP with Kids will have art work on display in the UPH Gallery as well as the second-floor gallery at the Washington Public Library. The downtown exhibit is always a lot of fun; the enthusiasm and creativity are very contagious! UP with Kids' art work will be in the UPH Gallery for three weeks, and, as usual, the kids' art work is regularly on display in the entry to the Campus Center across from the day-care area. Stop by and enjoy this youthful creativity.
