Each resident who participated in 150 fitness classes throughout the year or worked out in the fitness center the same number of times earned the recognition of being a star in the Wellness and Fitness Stay Strong Program.
Party like it is 1931 was the theme for Reid Orris' birthday party this year. It is always an event when Reid?s daughter, Linda Orris, granddaughter Jill Zahs, and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Emma and Copper Zahs show up to decorate the Town Center for Reid?s birthday. They arrived with colorful party hats and enough decorated cupcakes to share with everyone.
Health Center residents made the most of a snow day this week by helping the day care children build mini snowmen. Fresh snow was brought in from outside and everyone worked fast to build a snowman and then used more snow to build erupting volcanos. It was evident by the excited looks on the little faces that they were amazed by the billowing snow from the mounds of white stuff.
Tuesday afternoon Bible Study group members are working their way through the book, Ten Rules for Growing Older with Dignity, by Richard H. Cox. This book is a spiritual journey through aging complete with guided information on how to handle specific situations.
The first Cribbage game day was held on Wednesday with about six residents joining in the inaugural event to learn or to play the game of Cribbage. Lucy Landon came up with the idea for such an activity and organized the event. After explaining how to play and the rules of the game, they joined in several dummy games and agreed to meet again next week.
The United Presbyterian Home will host a memorial service on Friday, March 13, to celebrate the lives of residents lost in 2014. Family members and friends are welcome to attend.
