Tom and Mary Orris stopped by to visit with Tom's mother, Donna Orris on their way to a cabin vacation last week. Tom brought along enough juicy Missouri peaches to share with all residents on second floor Kerr Hall. Donna raised him to share.
Kerr Hall residents met for a late lunch last week to accommodate for spatial distancing in the Moore Family Dining Room. Dave Henderson offered grace before the meal of grilled chicken or ham balls with mashed potatoes, creamed peas and carrot cake. They were a quiet group as they are not accustomed to shouting across the dining room to visit. Dave Henderson was the sole event planner for the luncheon.
The United Presbyterian Home Facebook page posed the question last Friday; Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? Many people replied with their vivid and deeply personal responses. Nancy Albert was working in Secaucus, New Jersey right across the Hudson River from Manhattan with a personal view of the plumes of smoke filling the blue sky. Employee Ashley Pacha remembers filling her car with gas before school started. She was a junior at Washington High School. Everyone remembers where they were the moment that they heard the news of two planes crashing into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and another plane crashing into the Pentagon and although it was a moment of disbelief, everyone knew it meant trouble.
Members of the Wellness Center delivered special cookies to all residents in observance of Grandparents Day. A note with the cookies read: 'Your strength inspires, your kindness motivates and your care encourages. Whether you are a grandparent or not, on the UP Home Campus you are a part of our family. The UP Home and UP with Kids Daycare appreciate you. Happy Grandparents Day to all of our lovely UP Home residents.” The delicious cookies were baked by the dietary staff with many compliments from recipients.
