Marion Avenue Church parishioners serenaded residents from outside the buildings on the UPH Campus Thursday afternoon to the delight of listeners. Their voices made beautiful music and we appreciate that they shared their time and talent with us.
John and Jan McDaniel celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last week when they dressed in their wedding attire and paraded around the UPH Campus atop the back seat of their convertible. Jan wore her floor length, laced dress and veiled hat, carrying a bouquet of roses and baby's breath looking as if she just came from the wedding ceremony. John was the ever-so handsome groom in his suit and tie. Residents clapped and cheered for the beautiful couple as they were chauffeured around by their dapper driver, Randy Fehr who dressed for the occasion in suit and tie. People were in awe of the couple who still fit in their wedding garments after 25 years. Happy anniversary!
Pat Jenkins reports that she enjoyed a special birthday while observing the rules of social distancing. Her son Randy saw to it that she received a Portal, and her granddaughter, Randi instructed her on how to use it. On Sunday her family surprised her with a virtual family reunion in her living room. Through FaceTime, Pat was able to see her five kids, ten grandchildren, nine of her eleven great-grandchildren as they all visited with each other online. The family participants were from seven states and England. Pat says it may have been her best birthday ever, a family reunion with no cooking and no dishes to wash!
Several residents were the recipients of May baskets delivered to the front door this week filled with goodies along with the sentiments of thinking of you, we care about you and hope you are well. Peg Moore's family kept their tradition alive when they delivered homemade baskets to some of their favorite people. Day care children were taught the tradition of anonymously delivering small homemade treats when they created cards with pictures of May flowers and had them delivered to residents of the Health Center. Ann Conklin prepared cards and chocolates which were very much appreciated by her recipients. While the baskets are small, the sentiment of remembering someone is huge.
