A snow filled winter scene adorns the health center window as part of the Washington Chamber Window Wonderland display. Various businesses have winter scenes painted on their store front windows for the community to view by driving around or taking a winter stroll. People are encouraged to vote for their favorite scene through the Chamber of Commerce Office.
The United Presbyterian Church youth group made and delivered 54 Christmas cards for health center residents. Their messages included phrases such as joy to the world, Jesus is the reason for the season and oh come let us adore him.
Pauline Schrock received pictures of newborn twin great-grandsons, Miles James Schrock weighed 6 pounds and Maxwell Allen Schrock weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces. The boys were born in Chicago, Illinois. Grandparents are Jim and Marilyn Schrock.
In the spirit of giving and hopefully spreading cheer during this Christmas season, the United Presbyterian Home is giving away gifts for each of the twelve days of Christmas just as in the English Christmas carol by the same name. Resident names will be randomly drawn on each of the twelve days leading up to Christmas Day with the number of gifts increasing to total the number for that day. Some very nice gifts have been handed out beginning on December 12. One pair of mittens, two gift cards to Brown's Shoe Fit, three UPH Christmas shirts, four boxes of Kalona Chocolates from the Village Shop and five face masks from Earthly Blessings. Lucky recipients thus far include Mary Sayre, Doris Davidson, Ron Bowser, Mary Meeker, Lila DePenning, Bonnie Richardson, Ella May Ruppert, John Collett, Donna Koehler, Marvin Crile Marjorie Noble, Lois Swan, Bonnie Bender, Sarah Hanna and Pat Dusenbery.
