Twenty members of United Presbyterian Women attended the Christmas Tea at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Fellowship Hall. Circle V served an assortment of Christmas cookies. Co-moderator Jane Fehr opened the meeting with a welcome and the purpose of UPW as June Asper lit the Christ Candle.
Circle IV was in charge of the program, which used the theme ?The Magi.? Butch Zwicki sang ?O Holy Night? accompanied by Virginia Bordwell. The group sang two carols. Jeanette Miksch read the story of the wise men from Matthew 2:1-12. Janice Twinam completed the program reading a version of Henry Van Dyke's ?The Other Wise Man,? retold by Pamela Kennedy.
During the business meeting Janice Flory gave the yearly sewing report. Betty Beenblossom reported that each circle is selecting its own mission project in December. The UPW will send Christmas money to the corresponding missionaries. One copy of the World Day of Prayer will be kept in the church office for the circles to use.
Treasurer Kay Hall reported that half of the Thank Offering will go to Thank Offering projects and half will go to Starfish Haiti. The PW is supporting a third-grade girl in Starfish Haiti.
Pat Johnson led the service and prayer during the dedication of the Least Coin offerings. Jane closed the meeting with a prayer, ?Christmas Blessing.?
