University of Iowa piano students to play in Washington

The Washington Concert Association will host an afternoon of classical music by five University of Iowa piano students of Dr. Ksenia Nosikova, along with ninth grade violinist Katya Moeller. This 3 p.m. event will be Sunday, Nov. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Washington, and is part of the Washington Concert Association 2018-19 Concert Series.
Dr. Nosikova is Professor of Piano and Co-Chair of Piano Area at the University of Iowa. She graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and also received her Masters there (with highest honors). She later earned her doctorate at the University of Colorado. She has entertained audiences extensively in Europe, Asia, Canada, USA, South America and Russia. She teaches an international studio of graduate and undergraduate students who have received many scholarships and awards at competitions in the US and throughout the world.
The five piano students who will be performing are Ming Hu from China, Shin Hyung Kim from South Korea, Chun-Ya Pien from Taiwan, Anthony Capparelli and Trevor Magness both from the USA. As well as being recipients of multiple awards, several of the musicians are teaching assistants at UI.
Katya Moeller, a ninth grader at West High in Iowa City, will be playing her violin. Moeller started playing the violin at age four with the Preucil School of Music and now studies with Almita Vamos in Chicago.
