We would like to thank the Washington Fireman crew for bringing the United Presbyterian Home in Washington the pancake meal on Jan. 12. It was truly enjoyed and appreciated.
We also want to congratulate the 2021 All-Star winners from the UP Home. These individuals came to the Wellness Center (classes or individual workout) 150 or more times throughout the year! Residents are Nancy Albert, Bonnie Bender, Clarence Brown, Jean Frazer, Agnes Hughes, Cathy Kleese, Kathy Knutson, Joyce Letts, Mike McGuire, Mary Meeker, Jana Nieman, Mary Oviatt, Sarah Robison, Carol Thornton, Dorothy White and Gwen Ying. Community Members include Sandy Buhrow, Connie Carey, Joan Guinn, Ken Guinn, Jane Kaczinski, Alice Sherwood, Shirley Textor, Nancy Westphal and Millie Youngquist. These are our Rock Stars of 2021!
On Jan. 19 we held a “Get Green” program on recycling in the Campbell Room. Attendees learned tips for recycling on the UP Home campus and why it helps the environment.
We are hosting a Blood Drive on Campus the 26th of this month. It is our opportunity to come together to help save lives.
Our Spiritual Life Director, Andrew Zuelke, has started a new study group taking place in the Moore Dining Room on the first and third Fridays of the month. Residents have an opportunity to join Andrew on a journey to know God more than they ever have before. The group will be studying the book “Knowing God” by the late theologian and author, J.I. Packer who published over a 1 million copies of “Knowing God”. Andrew has enjoyed a great turn out for this study group.
Our resident Book Club this month is reading the book ‘Animal, Vegetable, Miracle’ by Barbara Kinsolver — a chronicle of her family’s effort to raise, as mulch as possible, all their own food.
In Brownlee and Garrett, a reminiscing about Martin Luther King took place on Monday, Jan. 17, with memories being shared. Hymn Sing with Andrew continues to be enjoyed by everyone. Residents enjoy joining in with song as Andrew plays the Piano and leads the way.
Little puppies were brought in to visit. They were six weeks old and brought lots of smiles and laughter to all. We also had a craft making snowmen with powdered sugar donuts. Everyone enjoyed making them but enjoying eating them just as much if not more.
We want to wish a Happy Birthday to all our January Birthdays — John Sproule, Patricia Dusenbery, Marilee Bruty, Esther Bordwell, Mary Oviatt, Lidvil Hart, Dorothy Widmer, Randy Fehr, Pat Minneman, Vernie Lowry, Charlie Thompson, Ruth Erwin, Jane Vetter, Carol Flickinger, Lucy Landon and Betty Flynn
Enjoy your week everyone!
