Reid Orris was pleasantly surprised one Saturday in late February with a nine-car family birthday parade in his honor that traveled the United Presbyterian Home campus streets in Washington.
Each of Reid's kids and grandkids were part of the parade and eager to poke fun at dad and grandpa. Of course, Reid was dressed for the milestone occasion with a T-shirt that reported his 90 years of age and still original parts. Reid says his original parts were top of the line back in 1931. The parade ended at the pavilion where they enjoyed birthday cake.
Audra Williams celebrated her birthday this week with a visit from her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Diane Williams of Camdenton, Missouri. Audra enjoyed meals with her family and when Diane left, Audra's freezer was full of prepared meals ready to be eaten.
Health center activities are being organized under the new normal guidelines once again. With this week's temperatures in the 70s, the favored activity was to get outside and soak up sunshine and fresh air. UP Home residents have also participated in kickball, trivia, crafts and cookie baking. Many of them have been treated to manicures, root beer floats and movies with popcorn if they choose.
Mary Brinning was pleased to meet her great-grandson this week when he arrived for a scheduled visit. Beau Michael Stout was born Feb. 7, 2021 to parents Bryce and Kelsey Stout. Beau is the first grandchild of Social Worker, Paula Brinning.
Donna Proudfit hosted the March 9 Kerr Hall luncheon with 20 residents participating all dressed in green attire accessorized with beads and jewels. They enjoyed an Irish meal of corned beef, cabbage and boiled potatoes or an Irish beef stew with grasshopper mint and chocolate pie. There were plenty of festive decorations highlighting the shamrock with the Ireland flag hanging in the background. Andrew Zuehlke graciously provided the entertainment when he sang Danny Boy and When Irish Eyes are Smiling to cap off the afternoon.
