UP Home resident to be honored with medal of Knight of the Legion of Honor
The United Presbyterian Home in Washington has announced that a United Presbyterian resident, Marion Turnipseed, will be presented the medal of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the French Consulate.
Marion, who is 100 years old, is a World War II veteran. This medal was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, and it is the highest distinction that France can bestow upon those who have demonstrated eminent civil or military merits for the county.
The presentation will take place Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. in the Moore Dining Room at the United Presbyterian Home.
