UP Home residents have fun with NCAA tourney

Six Kerr Hall residents at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington had some NCAA Bracket Fun during the recent tournament. Donna Proudfit orchestrated the event. Resident leads changed quite frequently. In the end, the first-place winner was Carla Carter who predicted both Gonzaga and Baylor.
She inched ahead of Dick Hendrickson. Betty Gipple led after the first round. Bill Stewart, Pat Bagley and Donna Proudfit enjoyed the competition as well. A celebration cooperative chicken dinner concluded the basketball fun.
Brandy Kellenberger started offering massages to residents in the new spa room Friday, April 16, with a great turnout. She will be having return customers filling up her schedule quickly.
Spiritual Life Director Andrew Zuehlke is leading a weekly Christian book study Friday morning. They are studying the book “The Screwtape Letters” by famous British author C.S. Lewis.
The new art room is up and offering a variety of media to utilize including acrylic paintings, watercolor, colored pencil and chalk drawings. Pat Bagley stated that she had never done any art projects before attending the UP Home Art Studio and she highly recommends it.
United Presbyterian Home would like to welcome Mary Shettler, Todd and Cheryl Crone to its campus.
In preparations for Kentucky Derby Day, a Kentucky Derby hat decoration afternoon took place. Lucy Landon repurposed a hat that she had from a cruise. The hat was reported to be ready for Derby Day.
Spring is here and the Washington High School FFA has completed the first tilling of the community garden. Larry Bartlett continues to do a great job with organizing the garden plots. When warmer weather arrives, planting will begin.
