The month of February usually has us looking forward toward the next season of the year but on campus at the United Presbyterian Home in Fairfield, we had a celebration of Valentine’s Day which we enjoyed a wonderful meal from our own kitchen and entertainment by Ned Francis. Ned brought out the dancer in some of our residents and staff a like and had everyone singing at one point or another through out the afternoon.
Our book club is currently reading “Wrapped in Rain” by Charles Martin. It’s a story of abuse and survival with the help of faith and a dear housekeeper in the Southern Gothic tradition.
Our spiritual leader, Andrew Zuehlke, continues to assist us all with our spiritual needs and general encouragement. He currently is leading a Christian book study “Knowing God” by J.I. Packer that meets twice a month. There has been a great response shown by the attendance.
Andrew also has a weekly Live Hymn Sing Broadcast on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. which can be enjoyed by tuning in to our UPH Facebook page. We have an Ash Wednesday service coming up on Wednesday, March 2 and we well be having a World Day of Prayer Service on Friday, March 4.
Mr. Dick Colby continues his dedication with presenting “Classics et Cetera” weekly, which we greatly appreciate.
Our Beauty Shop is enjoying a new chair that was a donation made from our “Wish List.” We have had a wonderful response to our “Wish List” donation requests.
Our Art Studio classes continue to meet. We are enjoying the calendar that has our very own artist represented each month. This includes, Nancy Albert, Betty Beenblossom, Charlotte Magdefrau, Connie Bauer, Carol Thornton, Marion Turnipseed, Ron Palmer, Jan McDaniel, Larry Bartlett, Jana Nieman, Carolyn Dixon and Pat Bagley.
We would like to acknowledge our February Birthdays on Campus which include Betty Thompson, Jeaniene Dusenbery, Ruth Zehr, Carole Rees, Agnes Hughes, Joan Rich, Meda Fulton, Cheryl Dill, Carla Carter, Carol Ray, Leon Hansen, Gary Russell, Elva Herman, Phyllis McConnell, Mary Sue Northup, Reid Orris and Ed Lins.
We are looking forward to a presentation by Stefanie Haworth on her recent Hawaii trip.
We would like to extend our sympathies to the family of Rosie Mart and Mary Redlinger.
Enjoy your week everyone!
