Trees and flowers have bloomed on campus and gardening is taking place. Summer is right around the corner and everyone on campus has been enjoying the warmer temperatures and getting back outside. Bert Lampkin has been enjoying the Tulip Tree blooming outside her windows. It is a great view!
Pat Bagley was visited over Memorial Day weekend by her niece Mary Ellis from Lincoln, Nebraska and niece Chris Sheetz from Coin, Iowa. They came to put flowers on the graves of their parents, Ron and Phyl Sheetz and other family members. They enjoyed lunch at Café Dodici on Saturday.
Jean Frazer provided a presentation to over 20 residents of her Knitting Tour of Ireland. Jean shared her photo book on power point. It was an 8 ½ hour flight from Chicago. Jean toured the whole southern part of Ireland. Jean said she enjoyed great weather and great food and got lots of great pictures.
The Washington Middle School ELP program was gratuitous enough to share their Mini Barn Quilt Tour on our campus. We are 1 of 4 loops in town. For this project, WMS ELP students learned about and recreated mini barn quilt blocks to represent the blocks found around Washington County. Thank you, WMS ELP.
Book Club meet May 25 reading ‘Saving My Assassin’ by Virginia Prodan, a story of great courage under an evil regime in Romania. June’s reading is the book ‘Miss Julia Makes Up Her Mind’ — a good example of traditional Southern humor telling the story of Miss Julia’s discoveries after she becomes a widow. The cast of characters is a good cross-section of the inhabitants of a Southern town.
We had great time preparing and entering the Ridiculous Day Parade with over 50 residents participating. It was a great time enjoyed by all those who were part of the planning, making signs, renting golf carts, Tina Turner a.k.a. Jean Cousins, was present dancing to Proud Mary and just the overall atmosphere of it all. After the parade a Pizza Party was enjoyed by the group. It was a fun filled Saturday for sure. Getting 3rd place in the Parade was an added bonus.
In Brownlee and Garrett, residents enjoyed movie and popcorn day and of course Hymn sing. They had a reminiscing group with coffee and hot chocolate. It was a good time with talking about fun summer activities that residents did with their families. What was enjoyed the most this past week was the Golf Cart Rides. It was the talk for days! Everyone is ready to go again.
Enjoy your week everyone!
