Vehicle collision at intersection

A Mediapolis motorist received a citation following a two-vehicle accident Sept. 23 at the intersection of East Washington and South Adams streets in Mt. Pleasant.

Chase Parrott was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Parrott, according to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department?s accident report, was driving a 2000 Mazda, owned by James Chase of Mediapolis, east on Washington Street and approaching the intersection with South Adams Street.

A 2011 Buick, owned and operated by Karen Duckett of Mt. Pleasant, was driving south on Adams Street. Duckett had a green light and was traveling south through the intersection with the right-of-way, according to the report. Parrott was looking away while approaching a red light and struck the Buick in the passenger side in a T-bone fashion.

There were no injuries at the scene, but one driver was later examined at a hospital.

Damage to the Mazda was estimated at $5,000 and the Buick sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.
