Looking for a way to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and tap into your creative talents? Would you like to explore different techniques for making journals and new ideas for using them? Are you simply looking for motivation to journal more? Join the Washington County Conservation Board?s ?Viewing Nature through Journaling? program on Saturday, April 30, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Conservation Education Center in Marr Park.
This creative program will feature two parts. First, you will create your own nature journal, choosing one method from several possible styles. If time and supplies permit, you may wish to try your hand at other options as well. If you have a photo, magazine picture, or other image you would like to include, bring it along and it may be possible to accomodate the image as cover or backing to your journal.
After the program, the group will tour the park for some guided exercises to warm up our creative juices and expand the use of our senses. You?ll also experiment with different methods and writing utensils. Lastly, you?ll have the opportunity to explore and journal on your own.
Nature journaling is an excellent way to relieve stress; unwind; improve your mental, physical, and emotional health; enhance your observation skills; and/or create a record for personal, family, or historical purposes.
Marr Park is located one mile west of Ainsworth and six miles east of Washington on Highway 92. The Conservation Education Center is located in the south part of the park. For more information, contact the Naturalist at 319/657-2400 or wccbnaturalist@iowatelecom.net.
