Villages of Van Buren events for July, August

The Villages of Van Buren County has announced a number of upcoming activities for the public to enjoy in the many towns in the county.

July 16-18 ~ Ranch Horse Show Series

The fourth of the 2021 series. Fri. 7 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m., Sun. 11 a.m. River Valley Horse Camp & Lodge, 29080 Hawk Dr., Farmington.

July 17 ~ Bentonsport Heritage Day

Visit specialty shops and museums. Enjoy free covered wagon tours, characters from Bentonsport's past, artisan demo, entertainment, pie and ice cream stand and more. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Walking tacos from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mason House. 21964 Hawk Dr., Bentonsport.

July 19-26 ~ Van Buren County Fair

Enjoy a week of fun at the Van Buren County Fair. Featuring: Fair Queen Contest, 4-H & FFA Open Show Exhibits all week and more. WED. ~ Youth Plein Air Competition. THUR. ~ Plein Air Painting Contest begins. FRI ~ Barn Dance (7:30 p.m.) SAT. ~ Draft Horse & Mule Farm Team Challenge/Ranch Rodeo (6 p.m). SUN. ~ Kids Day (All Day) & Southern Smash Demolition Derby (6 p.m.). Highway 1 North in Keosauqua.

Aug. 14 ~ J40 Farm Crawl

Free family fun weekend filled with Farm Tours, Cheese Creamery, Amish Furniture, Local Artists, Clay Oven Baking, Wagon Rides, Amish School Breakfast, Glass Blowing Demonstrations, Free Homemade Ice Cream at Yoder's Indian Creek Furniture and more. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Along County Road J40, West of Keosauqua.

Aug. 21-22 ~ Keosauqua Lions Breakfast

All-You-Can-Eat Pancake & Sausage Breakfast served Sat. and Sun. 7-10 a.m. Keosauqua City Park, 100 Van Buren St., Keosauqua.

Aug. 21-22 ~ Bike Van Buren XXXV

Two-day casual, family-oriented bicycle ride through the historic Villages. Various route/mileage options. Walk-up registrants are welcome! Register online at villagesofvanburen.com/bikevanburen.

Aug. 21 ~ Villages Folk School BBQ & Bake Sale

Community BBQ under the big tent. Pulled pork or brisket sandwich with salads, chips and drink. Keosauqua City Park, 100 Van Buren St., Keosauqua.

Aug. 27 ~ Keosauqua Chamber Annual Golf Tournament

Open to everyone. Lunch included with entry fee. Win cash prizes.
