Virginia Ruth McCabe, 90, New London, died July 28, 2017 at Danville Care Center.
Service will be Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday with the family greeting friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Because of her love of Christmas the family requests Christmas attire. A memorial has been established ...

Virginia Ruth McCabe, 90, New London, died July 28, 2017 at Danville Care Center.

McCabe was born April 30, 1927 in Kansas City, Kan. to Henry and Mary "May" Linderman Snelson. She married Harold Bamford; they divorced. On October 2, 1948, she married Charles McCabe in Kansas City. He died October 11, 2014.
Virginia worked at Katz Drugstore in Kansas City and at IAAP during the war. During World War II, she was a WAC stationed in Kansas City. She was a member of the Moose Club and New London Women's Auxiliary 7641. She was a member of New London Christian Church.
Virginia is survived by daughter, Diana "Dee" (Wayne) Johnson of Danville; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Lester, Jane, Frances, Vera, Viola, Mary, Arthur and Joseph.
